Guideline 3

BOOSTING THE EMERGENCE OF START-UPS

The emergence of advanced materials start-ups remains essential when promoting innovation and economic growth in Québec. Targeted measures will be implemented to complement those already in place within existing incubators and accelerators and to help them overcome challenges like funding, marketing, and human resources management while supporting their growth from inception to supply chain integration.

OBJECTIVE 3.1. To support and accelerate development for innovative start-ups.
OBJECTIVE 3.2. To launch calls for solutions that stimulate innovation and attract first buyers.

Objective 3.1

OBJECTIVE 3.1

To support and accelerate development for innovative start-ups.

Support Québec’s Consortium in clean technologies, with its twofold objective:

  • Expand the start-up pipeline in key climate technology sectors (particularly advanced materials) based on the academic and industrial research;
  • Accelerate the commercialization of cleantech start-ups at the incubation and acceleration stages.

The Lab-to-Startup in action:
The entrepreneurs in residence—Craig Buntin, Rémi Lalonde Richard, Valérie Robitaille, Marc-Antoine Ducas, and Philippe Poirier—act as interim CEOs, working hand in hand with researchers and scientific project leaders. In the field, they validate the commercial potential of the clean technologies they identify, secure letters of intent and contracts, and lay the concrete foundations for the success of future startups.
Thanks to strategic partnerships with Axelys and the Vallée de la Transition Énergétique, as well as collaborations with the University of Sherbrooke, Laval University, UQTR, and Cégep de Sept-Îles, the Lab-à-startup transforms innovations into high-impact businesses.
